Welcome Message

The 62nd Annual Congress of Japanese Society of Pediatric Surgeons
Professor and Chairman, Department of Pediatric Surgery,
Kyorin University Faculty of Medicine
I am honored to announce that the 62nd Annual Congress of Japanese Society of Pediatric Surgeons will be held from Thursday, June 5th to Saturday, June 7th, 2025, at Hitotsubashi Hall in Tokyo. This marks the first time that Department of Pediatric Surgery at the Kyorin University Faculty of Medicine, which became an official department in 1994 and is now celebrating its 30th anniversary, hosts the JSPS congress. It is a great honor and privilege for us.
The theme of the congress is “Stars in the sky, flowers on the earth, love for people.” This phrase was calligraphed by Saneatsu Mushanokoji, whose former residence and now Saneatsu Park as well as Mushanokoji Saneatsu Memorial House are located near our university. "Love" is the basis of medical care and I believe, the most essential thing for children suffering from illness. The sub-theme of the congress is “Your wishes for the children.” This expresses our hope that future pediatric surgeons will provide the pediatric surgical care with “Your wishes” for the children.
The prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, ongoing wars, and earthquakes have led to continuous days of uncertainty. We sincerely hope that the pandemic will subside, wars will end, and reconstruction from natural disasters will be achieved, and that the efforts of the Children and Families Agency's measures to combat declining birth rates will bear fruit. As people feel encouraged to give birth and raise children, the role of pediatric surgery will become increasingly vital. Pediatric surgery is indispensable in the field of pediatric medicine, and as medical care becomes more advanced and specialized, it must continue to provide compassionate care to children and their families. With the spirit of "Stars in the sky, flowers on the earth, love for people," we aim to hold a successful congress and contribute to the further development of pediatric surgery.
We sincerely look forward to your participation.
